Simran Thapliyal is a writer and journalist based in London. She has lived in 15 cities and spent her childhood immersed in different cultures across the Indian sub-continent. She has a B.A. in Economics (Honours) (University of Delhi), A P.G.D. in Liberal Studies (Young India Fellowship, Ashoka University) and an MA in Gender, Media and Culture from Goldsmiths, University of London. Navigating a philosophical no mans land, she likes to experiment with form and medium to marry creativity with critical thought in her writings. In her MA, she experimented with new sociological methods to archive intergenerational bodies of knowledges. Simran’s writing interests include feminist science studies, trauma studies, decolonial literature, South Asian history and films. She makes sense of her eclectic interests and experiences though her writings on culture, short stories, personal essays, poetry and editorials.
